Client Spotlight – Brush Arbor

Please give us an overview of Brush Arbor Homes, Inc.

Brush Arbor began in 2007 by Jonathan Smith, a native of Loudoun County. His first foray into construction was overseas where he spent time building homes in East Africa and South America. That humbling experience translated into a core ideal on how best to treat customers, employees and subcontractors. Brush Arbor currently builds about 15 custom homes a year, mostly in North Arlington, McLean and Vienna.

What distinguishes Brush Arbor Homes from other custom home builders in the Northern Virginia area?

Our base price is generous and includes premier finishes. Our upfront communication is second to none – a client will never get hit with costly surprises. There is no sticker shock, and we are fully customizable as well.

Cochran’s Lumber and Millwork worked with Brush Arbor on the North Arlington home on Marcey Road. Please tell us more about this project and the materials chosen from Cochran’s Lumber.

Marcey was a lot of fun to design & build! We love the craftsman style but we wanted to try something different so we designed Marcey as a Modern Farmhouse. Our designer used modern, high end finishes in the lighting, countertops, plumbing fixtures, and extensive millwork. We needed the perfect flooring to anchor it all so for that we turned to Cochran’s Lumber. Marcey floors were the perfect blend of new with an ‘old soul’ look. We continue to get comments and inquiries about those gorgeous floors (7” live sawn white oak with bevel distressed and kerfing. Stained in Dark Walnut).

Custom Finished Flooring

Our friends at Lawrence Doll Homes, LLC chose our custom finish “Linen” when selecting flooring for the Dryden home and the results are spectacular! The white oak creates a clean, modern look for this downtown Herndon home. Homeowners Dax and Heather couldn’t be happier with the selection.

“When we were shopping for a home and came to look at this one, the first thing I thought when I walked in was, ‘Wow! The floors are incredible!’

Every single person that has come through our house has the same ‘Wow’ moment about them. They are really very special.”

Barn Board at Homestead

New DC restaurant Homestead, located in the Petworth neighborhood, opened its door last month, offering its patrons a relaxing atmosphere with American comfort food and extensive beverage menu. The restaurant is located inside a residential row house dating back to 1922. The owners chose our antique weathered barn board and white oak stair treads to add to the rustic decor of the structure’s original woodwork and exposed brick.

A special request from the owners were for reclaimed gray and red bard boards, which were then turned into a replica of the DC flag.
