For our December Newsletter – INSPIRATIONS, Cochran’s Lumber was delighted to sit down with Shannon Dulaney, Vice President of Warfield Homes, Inc. We are proud to feature Warfield Homes’s recently completed Purcellville home and their use of our rustic Antique Oak flooring and Cedar beams. In addition, we also highlight our reclaimed flooring at a recently remodeled Shenandoah Valley home, and our Live Sawn White Oak with a Fort McHenry finish featured at a home in Herndon, Virginia.

Warfield Homes, Inc.
Please give us an overview of Warfield Homes Inc.
Warfield Homes is a family owned, Class A, commercial and residential general contract that has been in business since 1988. Our primary focus is the construction of single family custom homes located in northern Shenandoah Valley and Western Loudoun County. Our services cover a broad range from small excavation jobs to large commercial buildings, and anything in between. At last count, our company has constructed over 100 custom homes for families in our surrounding communities. We have built homes that range in size form 600 square feet to over 9000 square feet.
What distinguishes Warfield Homes from other custom home builders in the Northern Virginia area.
Flexibility and capability are our two biggest strengths. We understand that building a home is often the largest investment a family will make. Every customer has different budgets, needs and experiences with regard to new home construction. We tailor our process to fit what works best for the customer. In our opinion, the term “Custom” means building to the customers budget and needs. Whether the customer is a first-time home buyer or building a multi-million dollar estate, we provide the highest level of quality and adapt our processes to provide the best customer experience possible.
Many of Cochran’s products were selected for a recently completed custom home in Purcellville, Virginia. Please tell us more about these unique products and why they were chosen for the overall design on the home.
The home you are referring to is one of the largest and well-appointed homes we have built. There were countless decisions and options for the owner and designer to make. The owners wanted a “rustic” feel throughout the home. We were able to use many of Cochran’s unique products in various ways throughout the house to achieve the desired design intent and feel of the home. We used the reclaimed Antiques Oak Flooring through-out most of the house. We have had countless compliments on the wood floors. The cedar beams were used as decorative accents throughout the main living areas. Reclaimed barn siding was also used in the basement to construct a custom bar, accent walls and wrap columns. Since the bar area was in the basement (concrete floor), we were able to utilize one of Cochran’s engineer wood flooring to complete the desired look and rustic feel.
What did you enjoy most about working with Cochran’s Lumber and/or what distinguishes us from other flooring providers?
Cochran’s Lumber is a local, family business, much like ours. Our companies share similar values. We try to support local business whenever possible. Cochran’s management team was very helpful in assisting our customer with selections as well as advising the installers. What differentiates Cochran’s from other flooring suppliers is the wide array of new and recycled flooring and wood products. I strongly recommend anyone who is considering new construction or remodeling to make sure to spend some time in their showroom.
