Community Project Spotlight
For our November Inspirations, Cochran’s Lumber is proud to feature a project that is near and dear to our heart. Earlier this year, we partnered with Windmill Hill Design Build and their collaboration with the Gary Sinise Foundation, a nonprofit committed to serving the needs of our veterans and first responders by building homes that are both comfortable for the entire family and fit the needs and challenges of the wounded veteran.
Our reclaimed barn siding was used perfectly throughout the smart home, including the range hood, beam wraps, and bathroom accent wall, adding loads of character and charm.
R.I.S.E Program
“We are honored to be supporting a Foundation that does so much for our Nation’s heroes including building smart homes through their R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment) program. Windmill Hill donated all of its design-build expertise to manage the construction of a one-story home for a local Veteran. As with all our projects, we partnered directly with the Veteran to ensure the home not only works for him but is beautiful and fits his vision for his dream home.
When building new construction one of our goals is to add character. In this home, we built a stunning vaulted great room with barn siding wrapped beams running throughout the space. This gives the room a rustic and warm feel. We lined the powder room wall in barn siding to add greater interest to a small space. All of this material was generously donated by Cochran’s and adds great interest.”
